23.04.08 LEXUS LF-A CONCEPT TO PARTICIPATE IN NURBURGRING 24 HOUR RACE

Lexus has announced that its LF-A super car concept will participate at the 2008 Nürburgring 24 hour endurance race.
Lexus will use the gruelling race as a test bed for further development of the powerful two-seat sports car.
Knowledge gained from the race will be fed back to engineering teams to assist with further development of the LF-A.
The vehicle is not a dedicated race car and will only feature the necessary safety modifications to meet racing regulations, including a roll cage and fuel tank.
Lexus will also use the opportunity to foster engineering talent within the organisation, appointing a team of young mechanics who will use the experience to develop their personal and technical skills.
The two-seat LF-A concept was last displayed at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show in coupe form and featured a V10 engine, which in testing has been capable of developing more than 370 kilowatts of power and reaching speeds of more than 320km/h.
The 36th annual Nürburgring 24 Hour Race will be run from May 22-25 at Nürburgring circuit in Germany.
